Awesome piece of history.
The 168th has its roots in Civil War volunteers from Iowa hence its nickname Third Iowa, who distinguished themselves in, among other places, the Battle of Vicksburg. The 138th fought against Pancho Villa, and in WWI. In World War II the 168th kicked a whole lot of ass in Italy. The 138th has continued to serve us well in Iraq and Afghanistan. The 138th is truly one of the oldest groups out there, and their motto of Attack Attack Attack is certainly well deserved!
